Return to 2021-2022 School Year

Academy Members, Families and Friends,

A few updates as of 08/24/2021:

With Compton College beginning their school year, if you or your child has been assigned to attend a workout scheduled Monday through Thursday, you must enter the campus from the E. Greenleaf Blvd, East Gate (E. Greenleaf Blvd runs parallel with E. Artesia Blvd and the east entry gate is on the opposite side of the campus from the Artesia main gate). Please note that the Greenleaf Gate will only be open till 5:00 P.M. If you arrive after 5:00 P.M. and the Greenleaf gate is closed, you may enter the campus from the main gate on Artesia Blvd. If attending a workout scheduled Friday through Sunday, you must enter the campus from the main gate on E. Artesia Blvd.

Registration for 2021-2022 School Year BASEBALL & SOFTBALL programs are now open: CLICK HERE TO REGISTER!!! Once registered, you will begin receiving additional workout information.

  • During the registration process, you may be asked to select a "GROUP #". Please note that the groups allow us to control registration capacity limits and players may be moved or reassigned to different groups and groups assignments are not final and multiple group reassignments may take place. We are working on scheduling specific groups to specific regular dates and times but that may not always be possible. We are still having issues resolving the workout RSVP system. Please make sure to carefully read any upcoming workout reminder email which may include the participants name, workout group, date and time, as it may change from the last notification you received. Workout reminder emails are sent automatically from LeagueApps one day prior to a scheduled event. We have received numerous questions why one family in the same workout program received a notification and another family in the same workout program has not. This is due to the capacity limits set for each group and the children in question not being in the same group.
  • TO PROTECT EVERYONES HEALTH AND SAFETY, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND A WORKOUT THAT YOU HAVE NOT BEEN SCHEDULED OR ASSIGNED TO ATTEND. ONLY ATTEND WORKOUTS THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED A EMAIL NOTIFICATION, REGARDLESS OF WHAT A COACH OR STAFF MEMBER MAY HAVE TOLD YOU OR YOUR CHILD.
  • If your child is scheduled to participate in a workout, please make sure they bring their own supply of water or sports drink to stay hydrated.
  • If possible, arrive early, dressed in baseball/softball workout attire and wear your Academy shirt and hat/visor. If you are new, or have outgrown your shirt, please let a coach know so we can issue a new shirt, hat or visor
  • Please read last week's update message below, which may answer some questions that you might have.

08/19/2021 UPDATE:

Our staff sincerely appreciates your patience and understanding, as well as your continued interest and support of our programs.

The health and safety of you, your child(ren), family and the Academy staff remains a priority. With the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation, especially in L.A. County, we are working on providing as many opportunities as possible for your children to participate, in both baseball and softball. To keep everyone safe as possible, while still offering programming, the Academy will need to implement capacity limits for each workout group, potential alternating workout dates and times for each group, as well as adjusting group sizes and participants, as needed, based on various factors including the number of registered participants in each program, as well as Academy staff and field availability.

As many of you have started to register for our new programs for the 2021-2022 school year, it has been brought to our attention that some of the communication features that we have been utilizing in the past via LeagueApps has changed and is causing some confusion and inability for some to use the RSVP feature, as well as receiving response messages from other Academy member families. LeagueApps has also created an app that some of you may have already begun using, which may also be complicating things. We will be reaching out to LeagueApps to see if these issues can be resolved.

Questions regarding what the "Group" in each registration program represent is something that many of you have inquired about. As mentioned above, the groups are currently being used for our staff to control capacity limits and to schedule each group to an available date or time and to maximize the number of children able to participate, in a safe environment. If you receive an email notification that your child or child's group has an upcoming workout, your child is eligible to participate for the scheduled date and time listed in the email. With some programs having over 100 members registered, please attend only the workout you are scheduled for. We acknowledge that this may be difficult for you to schedule your plans to attend workouts, as some groups may not practice every week. Below is a tentative time frame for each program. Potential start dates will be announced soon.

  • As previously mentioned above: PLEASE ATTEND ONLY THE WORKOUT YOU ARE PROPERLY REGISTERED FOR, ASSIGNED AND SCHEDULED TO ATTEND.

  • For the health and safety of your child, your family and the Academy staff and to comply with MLB and Compton College policies, everyone who enters Compton College and the Academy facilities will be REQUIRED to wear a face mask or face covering while on Academy grounds and at workouts (properly covering both mouth AND nose).
  • The Academy office building and clubhouse will remain closed to non-Academy staff.

Member/Participant/Parent/Family/Spectator Screening Measures and Protocols:

  • Temperature checks for participants and spectators will be REQUIRED prior to granting entry or participation.
  • Any individual who presents symptoms of Covid-19 or has a temperature reading 100.4 or greater will not be permitted into the Facility. Members will be sent home immediately and be advised to seek medical care.

DO NOT send members to workouts if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Cough
  • Headache
  • Chills
  • Sore Throat
  • Loss of Taste or Smell
  • Nasal Congestion
  • Muscle Pain
  • Runny Nose
  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue

  • Please make every effort possible to have your child arrive at least 15 minutes prior to each scheduled workout time to allow for temperature screening and check-in.
  • Workouts will have limited participant capacity. Workout groups and dates may be adjusted by the Academy as needed. All participants should attend workouts with their own personal gear (glove, bat, cleats, athletic shoes, etc.) Participants should bring their own water or sports drink to practice. For health and safety reasons, there will be no access to water fountains and the Academy will not be able to provide water coolers and water bottles to be shared.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding as we look forward to seeing all of you soon. If you have any questions, please contact us by CLICKING HERE.

Thank you very much!
